What criteria do you consider in selecting factories
for your client's lines?
Several issues must be weighed. Naturally only the factories
that
satisfy our standards for safety, health and social
standards are
approved. Most important are the quality
assurance program and the
level of training and experience
of each factory department.
Finally, we need to marry the
construction process, the equipment,
the logistics and the
country's applicable duty and tariff rates to
our client's unique
needs.
How are the designs
created for your clients?
This is a very organic and collaborative process that
evolves out of
an understanding of the retailer's customer
and the retailer's
marketing strategy.
Research from all sources, North American and European
directional
boutiques, fashion magazines, colour and material forecasts etc. are
all distilled in a progression of consultations
with in house
associates, outside experts and most importantly
with the retail
buyer.
Doesn't your
involvement in the sourcing process add
extra cost?
Actually, our involvement takes costs out of the retailer's
ultimate
cost of goods. Retail buyers, notwithstanding long
hours, have
trouble coping with all the diverse demands on
their precious time:
advertising, promotions, analysis, store
visits, new store openings,
distribution analysis, fixture layouts, management and operational
meetings, There is a need for
a supplier partner who can subordinate
short term interest for
solving the in stock, markdown control, sell
through, ending
inventory and maintained margin for the program and
still
help the buyer delight his customer with design and quality.
We add this value. We have invested in the technology and
people so
that we can dedicate ourselves to this duty.
